Job Details

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities):

Provide direct speech, language, and communication therapy to students (individuals or small groups), in pull-out and inclusive classroom settings

Interpret and implement IEP goals in your therapy planning and execution

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and required documentation (Medicaid, IDEA)

Conduct evaluations (initial, annual, triennial), make recommendations for goals, and participate in IEP meetings

Perform annual hearing screenings and refer as needed

Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and staff to embed speech/communication goals into classroom routines and across disciplines

Support classroom staff and parents in therapeutic feeding strategies, safety, and communication carryover

Adapt therapy materials for students with visual impairments, multiple disabilities, or sensory needs

Provide parent consultation, training, and liaison support for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems

Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and departmental planning

Competitive salary commensurate with experience and educational level (market rate for NYC area school SLPs).
