Qualifications

Experience Required: 5 + years
Must reside in the greater Austin metro area (no relocation offered for this role)
Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university
Five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting (preferably utility or midstream accounting)
Financial Analysis
Strong reporting skills
Supervisory/leadership skills
Ability to interact with all levels of management
Strong Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite (advance excel skills), General Ledger Systems)

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Controller, and interfaces with other departments originating financial transactions and data
Maintains financial records and ensures that transactions are properly recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and assists with evaluating financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and enhance internal controls
Review reports, oversee month and year-end reporting procedures, and ensure reconciliation of financial reports according to GAAP and regulatory standards
Prepare and input various general ledger journal entries, including accruals, amortization, depreciation, plant-related entries and adjusting entries as required
Perform balance sheet account reconciliations identifying proposed adjustments, processing errors, and work with other departments to resolve any reconciling items
Together with the Controller, provide records requested by the outside auditors
Provide answers to pertinent accounting-related questions received from Company staff
Assist with the preparation of the annual budget
Review and analyze general ledger and budgetary information and coordinate the explanation of budget variances
Assist with FERC regulatory financial statements and volumetric submissions for each quarter
Assist the Controller in designing financial reports, spreadsheets, and graphs/charts that meet the information needs of the Company
Assist with the issuance and maintenance of construction work orders
Maintain the Company’s Continuing Property Record, including the tracking of capital additions and retirements
Assist with the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions as necessary
Assist with month end closing: review variances, period costs, cost center reviews, balance sheet review, etc
