Job Details
Responsibilities
Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close.
Prepare accurate financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Monitor construction project costs, budgets, commitments, and profitability, investigating variances and communicating findings to project managers and leadership.
Maintain work-in-progress schedules and support revenue recognition, percentage-of-completion calculations, and contract accounting in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Review job cost allocations, subcontractor costs, change orders, retainage, and project billings for accuracy and completeness.
Support cash flow forecasting and review accounts receivable and accounts payable activity to identify risks and improve working capital management.
Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses to inquiries.
Strengthen internal controls, improve accounting processes, and identify opportunities to streamline reporting.
Partner with operations and project management teams to resolve accounting issues and deliver actionable financial insights.
Provide guidance to accounting team members and support consistent accounting practices.
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in the construction industry.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant education and experience.
Strong working knowledge of GAAP or equivalent accounting standards, with the ability to apply applicable GAAP requirements to financial reporting.
Experience with construction accounting, job costing, work-in-progress reporting, and contract revenue recognition.
Demonstrated strength in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and close processes.
Proficiency with accounting or construction ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with finance, operations, and project teams.
CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus.
