Responsibilities:
- Apply your expertise in variance analysis to identify cost trends and assess opportunities to improve profitability.
- Implement cost standards for materials and labor, prepare cost of goods sold and production reports, and coordinate inventory and cost controls.
- Analyze and monitor raw material inventory and associated cost of goods.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to analyze costs, review budgets and prepare related reports.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and monitor cycle count program.
- Prepare, analyze and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by product, by customer type and by division.
- Assist in Month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward.
- Review and analyze capital projects and fixed assets.
- Ensure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management.
- Develop and manage cost accounting systems to provide more effective and efficient review of financial data.
- Perform cost accumulation tasks as a member of the target costing group.
- Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.
- Forecast and plan future purchasing costs according to fiscal needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment.
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation preferred.
- Proficiency in variance analysis and cost accounting according to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Strong knowledge of cost systems and cost control, and the ability to effectively analyze and interpret data.
- Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with all levels of an organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and meet deadlines.
- Strong understanding of the financial analysis and its linkage with operations.
- Knowledge of ERP systems will be an added advantage.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
