Sr. Design Engineer

Jobot is working with one of our top clients in the Schenectady area looking to add a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to the team for a direct hire opportunity. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimizing innovative and exciting products.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of mechanical systems, products, and equipment.
• Use CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, to create detailed 3D designs.
• Analyze mechanical systems, including finite element analysis for structural, fatigue, thermal, vibration, and acoustics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish product specifications and production schedules.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability, and safety.
• Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions.
• Estimate budget and scope of project.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
• Proficient in design software, including AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
• Deep understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM), finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) a plus.
• Ability to work well in teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to make sound judgement calls under pressure.
• Knowledge of industry, engineering, math, and materials principles.
• Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools.
