Sr. Engineering Technician

Our client is an employee-owned engineering and environmental consulting firm specializing in geotechnical engineering, environmental services, engineering geology, hydrogeology, and civil engineering. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Engineering Technician who will be a vital part of our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory testing, processing test data using computer software, and communicating test progress and results. This role requires a strong ability to interact and communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels. The Sr. Engineering Technician will also be responsible for accurate field note production and sketch documentation.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures and standards.
2. Operate a nuclear densometer to measure the density of substances.
3. Process test data using specialized computer software and present results in a clear and concise manner.
4. Communicate test progress and results to relevant stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal staff.
5. Interact professionally with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels, ensuring clear and effective communication.
6. Produce accurate field notes and sketches to document work, ensuring all details are recorded for future reference.
7. Perform field and construction observation as needed, providing valuable insights and feedback.
8. Maintain a valid driver license and insurable driving record, allowing for travel to different work sites as required.
9. Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
2. Minimum 5 to 9 years of experience as a field and/or lab technician in the engineering industry.
3. Field and construction observation experience is highly desirable.
4. Current Nuclear Gage Safety and Transport Training certification.
5. Current HAZWOPER certification.
6. Strong ability to process and interpret test data using computer software.
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present test results effectively.
8. Must have a valid driver license and insurable driving record.
9. Personable, flexible, and professional demeanor.
10. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
11. Demonstrated attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate field notes and sketches.
