Sr Plumbing Design Engineering (Medical Gas) – Full-Time – $100-$150K (DOE) – Remote
Seeking a Senior Plumbing Design Engineer to lead the design and production of Plumbing and Medical Gas Systems for Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Industrial, Commercial, and Mission-Critical Projects Nationwide. The position requires strong technical design capabilities, practical field knowledge, the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced remote environment, and heavily focused on production, design execution, coordination, and technical leadership.
REQUIRED:
– Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
– Minimum 10 years of Plumbing Engineering Experience.
– Strong experience designing plumbing systems for commercial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, or institutional facilities.
– Proficiency with Autodesk Revit.
– Experience producing construction documents and specifications.
– Knowledge of International Plumbing Code (IPC), Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) where applicable, International Building Code (IBC), NFPA requirements related to plumbing systems, State, and local plumbing regulations
– Strong understanding of plumbing system calculations and design methodologies.
– Ability to work independently within a fully remote environment.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and coordination skills.
– Software Proficiency: Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office, BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud, Microsoft Teams, Monday.com
PREFERRED
– Professional Engineer (PE) license.
– Medical Gas Certification.
– Medical gas design experience.

– Knowledge of NFPA 99, FGI Guidelines, USP requirements, cGMP facility design considerations

DUTIES:
– Design plumbing systems for commercial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, and mission-critical facilities.
– Develop domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, specialty waste, compressed air, and other utility systems.
– Perform plumbing calculations including fixture counts, pipe sizing, pressure loss calculations, and equipment sizing.
– Develop engineering narratives, reports, studies, and technical documentation.
– Prepare code-compliant designs utilizing applicable local, state, and national codes.
– Coordinate plumbing systems with architectural, structural, process, and MEP disciplines.
– Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
– Healthcare & Medical Gas Systems –
Design medical gas and vacuum systems for healthcare facilities. Coordinate oxygen, medical air, vacuum, WAGD, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and specialty gas systems. Apply healthcare design requirements and applicable healthcare codes and guidelines. Support operating room, procedure room, sterile processing, laboratory, and patient care projects. Coordinate with equipment planners, architects, and healthcare stakeholders.
– Project Delivery –
Produce construction documents including plans, riser diagrams, schedules, details, and specifications. Develop permit, bid, GMP, IFC, and record drawing packages. Perform QA/QC reviews of plumbing deliverables. Review shop drawings, RFIs, and construction-related documentation. Assist with field investigations, site surveys, punch walks, and construction support activities. Support project schedules and deliverable deadlines.
– Technical Leadership –
Serve as a technical resource for project teams. Mentor junior engineers and designers. Provide guidance on code interpretation and engineering best practices. Participate in internal standards development and quality initiatives. Support continuous improvement of design processes and workflows.
