Job Details
The Senior Structures Construction Manager will act as the on-site representative for a multi-billion-dollar high-speed rail megaproject in California’s Central Valley. This leader will oversee the full construction lifecycle—from early planning through final delivery—managing all field operations and coordination efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary on-site liaison for the client, overseeing all construction field activities
Direct daily operations for the structures segment including earthworks, bridges, utilities, and grade separations
Enforce safety policies and lead field safety assessments
Manage contractor compliance with project plans and construction contracts
Coordinate project schedules, staff assignments, and work sequences
Anticipate construction needs to mitigate delays and resolve conflicts proactively
Prepare reports and briefings for senior management and external stakeholders
Foster collaboration across teams, including program managers, DB teams, and regulatory bodies
Required Qualifications:
10+ years in Project or Construction Management of complex heavy civil/transportation projects
Minimum 5 years acting as a Resident Engineer or Owner’s Rep on major contracts ($1B+)
Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
In-depth knowledge of Caltrans civil and structural processes, environmental permitting (CEQA/NEPA), and federal railroad regulations (FRA/FTA/AREMA)
Strong executive communication skills and team leadership abilities
Preferred Attributes:
Claims avoidance and dispute resolution expertise
Experience with alternative delivery projects (e.g., design-build)
