Job Details

A well-established nonprofit organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to support its financial operations across multiple programs and entities. This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, assisting with procurement and inventory processes, and supporting compliance with internal and external requirements. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient purchasing, strong internal controls, and reliable financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
Record financial transactions accurately, maintain detailed documentation, and ensure readiness for audits and compliance reviews
Support procurement processes by tracking purchase orders, reviewing vendor invoices, and ensuring adherence to policies and grant requirements
Manage inventory tracking, conduct regular physical counts, and produce reports for analysis and reconciliation
Process accounts payable, post journal entries, reconcile bank statements, and contribute to monthly financial reports
Oversee petty cash activities, maintain secure and accurate records, and enforce compliance with financial controls

Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field with at least 1.5 years of relevant experience with government contracts and grants
OR Associate’s degree in a related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience
Experience in petty cash management and financial recordkeeping
Proficiency with accounting software; MIP Abila experience preferred
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills

Preferred:
Familiarity with procurement and inventory procedures
Experience with grant-funded financial reporting and compliance
