Hospitality Company looking for Staff Accountant

Job Details:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Staff Accountant to join our thriving sales team. This role will be pivotal in maintaining our financial health and making sure all accounting operations run smoothly. You will be responsible for preparing financial statements, examining and analyzing the company's accounts and ensuring compliance with financial reporting and general accounting standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and a flair for numbers.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
• Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
• Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries.
• Summarize financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
• Perform monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, coordination and completion of annual audits, and reviewing financial reports/support as necessary.
• Analyze and report on financial status including income statement variances, communicating financial results to management, budget preparation and analysis.
• Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
• Oversee taxes and abide by federal regulations.
• Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment strategy.
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
• Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
• Provide input into department’s goal setting process.
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Proven experience of 5+ years as a Staff Accountant or similar role.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations.
• Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.).
• Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software (e.g. SAP).
• Well-organized with ability to prioritize.
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Experience in commercial real estate accounting, fixed asset accounting, accruals, year-end close, monthly reporting, balance sheet, journal entries, and fixed assets.
• Experience in grants and financials is a plus.
• CPA certification is a strong advantage.
