Job Details

A Houston-based company is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support general accounting functions, with an emphasis on Property, Plant & Equipment (PP&E). This role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career looking to grow within a fast-paced, operationally focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update fixed asset records, including depreciation, amortization, and related accruals
Track repairs and maintenance of fixed assets
Assist with inventory management, including plant materials and refrigerants
Support quarterly and year-end inventory counts and evaluate obsolete inventory
Help manage SAP master data setup for vendors and work breakdown structures (WBS); provide backup support for settlements and workflow tasks
Prepare journal entries related to supply chain accruals, property taxes, prepaid insurance, and other month-end responsibilities
Perform account reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure general ledger accuracy
Collaborate across departments to support monthly and quarterly close activities
Contribute to other accounting duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; advanced degrees (MBA, MAcc, CMA) a plus
Up to 2 years of experience in a high-volume accounting environment
Experience with fixed assets or general ledger preferred
Familiarity with SAP and Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail
Effective communicator across multiple teams and departments
Willingness for overnight travel to out-of-state plant location
Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities
