Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for:
1. Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department including month and end-year process, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll and utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc.
2. Monitoring and analyzing accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
3. Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
4. Coordinating and completing annual audits.
5. Providing recommendations for improving systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
6. Assigning projects and directing staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
7. Meeting financial accounting objectives.
8. Establishing and maintaining fiscal files and records to document transactions.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience.
2. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
3. A strong understanding of financial accounting, budgeting, general ledger, accounting software, and financial statements.
4. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and advanced knowledge of accounting software.
5. Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
8. Problem-solving skills and the ability to make well-judged decisions.
9. A proactive approach to work, with a strong drive to create efficiencies and improve processes.
10. CPA or CMA certification is preferred but not required.
