We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Permanent Structural Engineer to join our fast-paced Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the construction of new buildings and bridges, or alterations and extensions to existing properties or other structures. Responsibilities:
1. Prepare reports, designs, and drawings with the help of AutoCAD and other relevant software.
2. Use in-depth knowledge of structural engineering principles to design structures that will withstand the stresses and pressures imposed through environmental conditions and human use.
3. Make calculations about pressures, loads, and stresses on the structures.
4. Consider the strength of various materials, e.g. timber, concrete, steel, and brick, to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design.
5. Liaise with other designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction.
6. Examine structures at risk of collapse and advise how to improve their structural integrity.
7. Manage projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within the specified budget.
8. Monitor and inspect all works undertaken by contractors to ensure structural soundness.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in structural engineering, project management, and engineering design.
3. Proficiency in AutoCAD and other engineering design software.
4. Strong knowledge of structural analysis and structural engineering principles.
5. Excellent project management skills with the ability to supervise and plan construction projects.
6. Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
7. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
8. Professional Engineering (PE) license is highly desirable.
