We are seeking a Permanent Substation Physical Designer who will be an integral part of our dynamic and innovative engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting and design of electrical power substations. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that is responsible for the design and development of complex substation systems that help power our communities. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the engineering team to develop and implement design solutions for a variety of substation projects.

We are seeking a Permanent Substation Physical Designer who will be an integral part of our dynamic and innovative engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting and design of electrical power substations. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that is responsible for the design and development of complex substation systems that help power our communities. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the engineering team to develop and implement design solutions for a variety of substation projects.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed design drawings and schematics for electrical substation projects using AutoCAD and other related software.
- Interpret and understand complex electrical and mechanical design specifications and convert these into schematics and blueprints.
- Collaborate with project managers and design engineers to understand project specifications and provide design solutions.
- Conduct design calculations and prepare equipment or material specifications.
- Review and check designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with other team members to ensure the smooth execution of projects.
- Assist in the preparation of design reports and presentations.
- Participate in project meetings and conduct design reviews.
- Continually update technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and external courses, reading manuals and accessing new applications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation physical design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Familiarity with substation equipment and their functions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work independently and maintain a high level of performance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of applicable codes related to electronic engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus.
