As a Permanent Substation Technician, you will be an integral part of our team, ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our substation equipment. This is a hands-on role that requires a dynamic individual who can work independently and is not afraid to get their hands dirty. You will be working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong technical background who is looking to take the next step in their career.
Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Substation Technician, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
1. Performing regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs on substation equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
2. Troubleshooting and diagnosing faults in substation equipment and systems.
3. Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new substation equipment.
4. Working closely with the engineering team to implement improvements and modifications to substation equipment and systems.
5. Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures, as well as industry standards and regulations.
6. Responding promptly to any emergencies or faults in the substation.
7. Keeping accurate records of all maintenance and repair work.
8. Performing tests on substation equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly.
9. Operating SCADA systems for monitoring and controlling substation equipment.
10. Providing technical support and advice to other team members.
Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of Permanent Substation Technician, you will need the following:
1. A minimum of 5 years' experience working as a Substation Technician or in a similar role.
2. Proven experience working with SCADA systems.
3. A relevant technical qualification (e.g. Electrical Engineering) is preferred.
4. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose faults in substation equipment and systems.
5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues in simple terms.
6. A strong commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of industry standards and regulations.
7. The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to different sites as required.
9. The ability to work in a physically demanding role, including lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.
10. Flexibility to work outside normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as required.
