Job Details
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Superintendent to join our team. In this critical on-site leadership role, you’ll work closely with the Project Manager to ensure the successful execution of commercial construction projects. The Superintendent is responsible for daily on-site coordination, technical management, and ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
This position requires a proactive problem solver with strong decision-making abilities and a deep understanding of standard construction practices. The Superintendent reports directly to the General Superintendent or a Senior Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day site operations and ensure all construction activities are executed according to New England Construction (NEC) standards.
Manage and coordinate subcontractor activities to maintain schedule and quality expectations.
Plan and conduct all required onsite meetings, including subcontractor coordination, internal team check-ins, and owner/architect discussions.
Review project documents thoroughly to anticipate potential issues and plan accordingly.
Support the project startup process, including site analysis, scheduling, logistics, and estimating.
Enforce safety regulations and conduct weekly jobsite inspections to ensure a safe work environment.
Prepare daily construction reports using Procore and maintain thorough project documentation.
Manage RFI, submittal, and change order processes; review vendor drawings and specifications.
Oversee the completion of general conditions work and maintain site logistics.
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including weekly 3-week lookaheads and collaborative pull-planning sessions.
Support project closeout, including punch list management and preparation of closeout documentation.
Supervise and schedule all on-site construction activities.
Meet with the General Superintendent biannually to review progress toward personal and project goals.
Participate in NEC’s internal training programs and development opportunities.
Travel to project sites across New England as required.
What We're Looking For
Strong knowledge of construction documents, sequencing, and all phases of commercial construction.
Proven ability to lead and manage subcontractors efficiently.
Skilled in interpreting specifications, resolving issues, and ensuring quality execution.
Familiar with safety codes and committed to enforcing site safety standards.
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools like Procore.
Adaptable, team-oriented, and focused on customer satisfaction.
Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
OSHA 30 Certification (required).
Massachusetts Site Supervisor License (required).
Minimum of 6 years of commercial construction experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience managing multiple projects ranging from $500,000 to $5 million.
Must be able to perform all essential job functions and travel throughout New England as needed.
