As a Survey Crew Chief, you will be an integral part of our dynamic engineering team, playing a key role in the success of our projects. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-tech environment where you will be responsible for leading a team to conduct a variety of surveying tasks. You will be working with the latest technology in the field, including GIS, GPS, Geographic Information Systems, and drones. This role is perfect for someone who loves the challenge of working outdoors, enjoys problem-solving, and has a passion for precision and accuracy.
Responsibilities
1. Lead a survey crew in conducting topographic, boundary, and construction staking surveys.
2. Operate, manage, and maintain a variety of surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS equipment, drones, and other data collection tools.
3. Manage field aspects of projects, including data collection, stakeout, and quality control.
4. Prepare clear and concise field notes, record data, and make sketches.
5. Coordinate with project managers and other team members to ensure project objectives are met.
6. Train and mentor junior team members, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and standards.
7. Analyze survey data, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data.
8. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the company's quality management system and project quality procedures.
Qualifications
1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a survey crew chief role or similar.
2. Proficient in the use of modern survey equipment, including GPS, GIS, and drones.
3. Knowledge of principles, techniques, and instruments used in surveying, including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and construction staking.
4. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team.
5. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
6. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and navigate rough terrain.
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
8. Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex plans and blueprints.
9. A degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field is a plus.
10. A valid driver's license is required.
