Job Details

Tax Accountants are responsible for the preparation and timely filing of individual and fiduciary income tax returns and tax estimates of moderate to high complexity, including the gathering and analysis of all information needed to complete these returns and to
determine the lowest lawful tax burden for the client. The ability to maintain positive contact with clients, trustees and client officers and to observe the confidentiality of client and firm matters are critical to the role.

What you will be doing:

Prepare and timely file federal and state individual and fiduciary income tax returns of
moderate to high complexity as assigned, including quarterly federal and state tax estimates as
required.
Prepare and timely file required tax returns, estimates or withholding as applicable for
private foundations, non-resident alien trust beneficiaries and other return preparation
assignments as needed.
Prepare and timely file federal gift tax returns of simple to moderate complexity and assist
with gift tax planning projections.
Analyze trust documents to determine the tax return requirements for related accounts
Periodically review transactions on OneSource tax software in order to maintain accuracy of
the bridge from our accounting software.
Communicate with federal and state tax authorities to respond to letters and notices received.
Prepare amended returns and claims for refund as needed.
Reviews tax returns and other work product prepared by other tax accountants and by outsource
providers and prepare notes regarding the accuracy of the work product reviewed.
Keep up to date with tax law changes through readings and attending webinars and tax seminars.
Research tax concepts, as needed, and be able to advise clients, trustees, and other advisers.

Skills:

A bachelor's degree or equivalent in a business-related discipline is required, with a degree
in accounting preferred. CPA and/or MS in Taxation is a plus.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible tax related work experience in order to
gain the expertise needed to prepare and sign tax returns for individuals and trusts is required.
Direct fiduciary tax experience in a law firm, accounting firm, or bank trust department preferred.
