We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Bi-Lingual (Spanish / English) Permanent Tax Manager with a strong background. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all tax-related activities, including tax planning, compliance, and advisory services. You will be the go-to expert for all tax-related matters and will play a crucial role in our financial planning. This position requires a deep understanding of Puerto Rico and US tax laws and proficiency in using Thomson Reuters.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage client relationships
  • Identify potential tax planning opportunities
  • Collaborate with firm director and other tax managers on unclear tax laws and potential planning opportunities
  • Tax return review
  • Client Communications, Puerto Rico Department of the Treasury Representation, and IRS Representation (as assigned)
  • Budget Review w/Practice Manager & Firm Director
  • Help implement efficiencies to ensure projects are within budgeted time
  • Implementation of scope of client project
  • Ensure consistency in tax return and accounting deliverables
  • Process and/or review highly complex individual & business returns
  • Research / resolve tax issues and implement creative ideas
  • Cost benefit analysis
  • Tax Pro Client Management – Quarterly Review of Books, Tax Projections, Calls and in-person meetings with client to review & project potential tax liabilities
  • Coordinate tasks ranging from basic accounting and bookkeeping to complex entity structuring
  • Communicate options and alternative scenarios to clients to provide value
  • Review financial records, including ledgers, journals, and reconciliations
  • Future responsibilities based on growth/scale
  • Staff training and development
  • Delegate return preparation to the most cost-effective staff

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in tax and advisory
  • In-depth knowledge of Puerto Rico and U.S. tax laws
  • MUST HAVE Experience with ACT 60
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Proficiency in tax and accounting software (Thomson Reuters preferred)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • CPA/EA/Attorney or working towards certification is a plus
