We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Tax Manager specializing in Real Estate to join our team. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about the real estate industry and wants to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, growing organization. The successful candidate will have a strong background in tax compliance and planning for both commercial and residential apartments. The role will involve working closely with our finance and accounting teams.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all aspects of tax compliance for commercial and residential properties, including federal, state, and local income tax returns.
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes.
- Manage members of the tax team as they prepare components of the company's US federal income tax return and state tax returns.
- Conduct complex tax research and prepare tax memorandums dealing with a variety of real estate issues.
- Review tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projections.
- Manage and coordinate tax audits.
- Maintain tax balances on general ledger.
- Prepare all tax papers on a regular basis and handle all information data requests.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to manage audits and queries.
- Stay updated with industry trends and changes in tax legislation to ensure company compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree in Taxation or a CPA designation is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a tax manager or public accountant role, with a focus on real estate.
- Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance and procedures for corporations.
- Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
- Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements.
- Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software; proficiency in tax preparation software and reporting tools.
- Ability to effectively lead a team of professionals and manage multiple projects/deliverables.
