About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to oversee the preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with all tax regulations, maintaining internal controls, and supporting financial operations. Reporting to the Tax Director, the Tax Manager will collaborate with external CPA firms and internal finance teams—including revenue, expense management, fixed assets, treasury, and accounts payable.
This position offers opportunities for career advancement, including leading projects and supervising staff as the organization continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
Income Tax: Analyze financials, calculate tax adjustments and provisions, and manage filings for various business entity types (partnerships, C-Corporations, S-Corporations).
Property Tax: Oversee property tax processes, including fixed asset reporting, tax return preparation, and timely payments.
Business License Tax: Ensure compliance with licensing tax requirements, maintain supporting documentation, and manage tax filings.
Use Tax: Monitor use tax compliance, oversee data gathering, maintain workpapers, and ensure accurate filings.
Provide budget analysis and tax insights to the accounting team.
Stay updated on evolving tax laws and regulations to assess their impact on business operations.
Manage tax audits and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies and investors.
What You Bring
Expertise in Tax Law & Compliance: Strong understanding of GAAP and tax law differences, with the ability to interpret regulations and apply them to business transactions.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to perform financial reconciliations, conduct tax research, and pinpoint key issues in complex scenarios.
Attention to Detail & Time Management: Capable of managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accurate records.
Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
Technical Proficiency: Experience with tax research tools (such as CCH), and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
10+ years of relevant tax experience.
CPA or MST preferred but not required.
