Job Title: Tax Principal (Hybrid-Remote)
Compensation: $180k - $200k/year + Potential Bonuses
Location: Hybrid-Remote (candidates in Toronto, ON preferred)

Job Details

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Principal of Tax to lead and grow the Canadian tax practice at a well-established professional services firm. This is a high-impact leadership role with a clear path to partnership. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for mentoring and client service.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Tax Planning: Lead the development and execution of advanced tax strategies, including reorganizations, estate and succession planning, and tax optimization for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and trusts.
  • Client Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, delivering high-quality, proactive tax advice and building long-term relationships.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and manage a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Technical Oversight: Stay current on Canadian tax legislation and regulatory changes; conduct research and provide guidance on complex tax issues.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with audit, advisory, and client service teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to tax processes and systems to improve efficiency and service delivery.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation in good standing (Canada).
  • Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course (or equivalent such as a Master’s in Taxation) is highly beneficial.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Canadian tax within public practice or tax law.
  • Strong knowledge of the Income Tax Act, provincial tax laws, and related legislation.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
