Key Responsibilities and Duties
Qualifications Needed
- Lead plant food safety and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with USDA, BRC, GFSI, and customer requirements.
- Develop, document, and implement food safety processes, including HACCP and GMP training.
- Act as primary liaison with USDA officials and external auditors.
- Investigate customer complaints, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventative actions.
- Oversee sanitation programs, chemical interventions, and microbial testing.
- Conduct internal audits and represent the facility during customer and third-party audits.
- Manage QA staff, including training, development, and daily operations oversight.
- Report on quality and safety performance to management, ensuring corrective measures are communicated.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts using scientific research and technology.
Qualifications Needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Nutrition, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of food safety or quality assurance experience in the protein industry (or equivalent combination).
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and GFSI compliance.
- Familiarity with USDA, state, and local food safety regulations.
- Proficient in MS Office and industry reporting systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and lead QA teams effectively.
- Proven ability to analyze data, identify risks, and implement corrective/preventative measures.
