We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tool and Die Maker to join our dynamic manufacturing team. Our Tool and Die Maker will be responsible for analyzing specifications, laying out metal stock, setting up and operating machine tools, and fitting and assembling parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools. This role requires a keen eye for detail, exceptional manual dexterity, and the ability to work with precision and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
1. Interpret blueprints, sketches, or tool descriptions to determine tooling operations and sequence of operations.
2. Compute dimensions and tolerances and set up machine tools.
3. Inspect completed dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
4. Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
5. Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure parts meet specifications.
6. Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
7. Develop and design new tools and dies, using computer-aided design software.
8. Troubleshoot issues during the manufacturing process and perform necessary adjustments.
9. Perform die maintenance and repairs as needed.
10. Ensure quality control and compliance with company standards at all times.
Qualifications:
1. 3+ years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker in a manufacturing environment.
2. Proven experience with CNC Machine Operation, Quality Control, Blueprint Reading, Precision Measurement, Metalworking, and Tool Maintenance.
3. Proficiency in Tool Grinding, Troubleshooting, Machine Setup, Lathe Operation, and Mill Operation.
4. Demonstrated skills in manual dexterity, mathematical calculations, and attention to detail.
5. Experience with Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and proficient knowledge of materials used in the manufacturing process.
6. Familiarity with Hand Tools Operation, Die Maintenance, tool making, Progressive Die, and progressive stamping dies.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
8. High school diploma or equivalent. A degree from a vocational school or a completed apprenticeship is preferred.
9. Certification as a Tool and Die Maker is a plus.
