This position is critical to our operation and plays a key role in the manufacture and maintenance of tools and dies. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, repairing, and modifying dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using a variety of techniques and tools. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, precision, and attention to detail. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering concepts and be able to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Permanent Tool & Die Maker to join our dynamic engineering team. This position is critical to our operation and plays a key role in the manufacture and maintenance of tools and dies. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, repairing, and modifying dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using a variety of techniques and tools. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, precision, and attention to detail. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering concepts and be able to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
Responsibilities:
- Design, manufacture, and repair a variety of complex tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for high precision manufacturing operations.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, CAD files, and written/verbal instructions.
- Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
- Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects, using precision measuring instruments.
- Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
- Troubleshoot issues, identify solutions, and repair tools and dies in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure tools and dies meet necessary requirements and are produced on time.
- Implement and adhere to health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in the use of tool room equipment such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and EDM machines.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and CAD designs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of metallurgy and material properties is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Relevant certification or diploma in a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
