Responsibilities
Qualifications, Education, Certifications
- Direct and supervise work of project administration, project superintendents and engineers to establish operational priorities.
- Act as “CEO” of the project and demonstrate ownership over all aspects of the project team.
- Identify, understand, and mitigate risk across the spectrum with a focus on cost and schedule.
- Align project interests with our organizational interests.
- Balance risk and opportunity on projects.
- Manage stakeholder expectations.
- Awareness of organizational objectives and their effect on project resources.
- Optimize the use of organizational assets.
- Utilize knowledge of contracts, specifications and standards.
- Effectively communicate project risks and guide project managers accordingly.
- Assist project team with subcontractor and vendor management.
- Identify financial issues and drive economical solutions to complex problems.
- Issue formal letters to owner or general contractor on a specific project.
- Seek collaborative and long-term solutions.
- Enable project management decision-making through the effective use of information.
- Reinforce project management best practices through training, knowledge sharing and mentoring.
- Raise the bar for project execution throughout the organization.
- Serve as a mentor for members of the project team including APMs and engineers.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, Certifications
- Background of 15+ years of experience in project management or related area in the construction industry. Note: This experience does not have to be electrical, but transit experience is preferred.
- Experience managing larger teams, over 10 individuals including sub managers.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling and methodologies.
- Understanding of CPM scheduling.
- Experience with public bid work and/ or relevant experience with government agencies
- Ability to function effectively as a team player.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Subject matter expertise of one or more systems (Could be electrical or steel or track or communications).
- Strong understanding of resource management, construction economics, risk management, project integration, and budgeting in the construction industry.
- College graduate in Engineering, Business, Construction Management and/or equivalent experience in Project Management.
- MBA preferred but not required.
- P.E. preferred but not required.
- CCM preferred but not required.
- PMP preferred but not required.
