Job Details
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transportation Fleet Manager for our growing construction company. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our fleet of construction vehicles, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations, and optimizing vehicle scheduling, maintenance, and replacements. This role is pivotal in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our operations, and contributes significantly to our overall success across the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the daily operations and management of our fleet of construction vehicles, ensuring optimal utilization and efficiency.
2. Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, and company policies.
3. Develop and implement strategies for driver compliance, risk management, and safety, including conducting regular safety meetings and training sessions.
4. Manage vehicle scheduling, ensuring that vehicles are available and operational for all construction projects as needed.
5. Oversee the maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles, scheduling regular inspections, and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan.
6. Utilize Geotab software to track and report on vehicle usage, maintenance, and compliance, providing regular reports to senior management.
7. Work closely with other departments and stakeholders to ensure smooth operation and coordination of fleet activities.
8. Handle any fleet-related issues or emergencies that arise, implementing solutions promptly and effectively.
9. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, implementing best practices for fleet management in the construction industry.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management within the construction industry.
3. Thorough understanding of DOT and FMCSA regulations and compliance requirements.
4. Proven experience in driver compliance, risk management, and safety.
5. Proficiency in vehicle scheduling, maintenance, and replacements, with the ability to minimize downtime and optimize vehicle utilization.
6. Experience with Geotab or similar fleet management software.
7. Must have experience manage large fleets of vehicles exceeding 500+ across an enterprise.
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with drivers, other staff, and senior management.
9. High degree of professionalism and integrity, with a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
