My client is seeking a Senior Civil Trial Attorney to handle semi-autonomous caseload with potential high exposure. Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in litigation handling cases from inception through trial and a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in civil litigation. Practice Areas include Employment Law, Product Liability (including toxic tort and asbestos), Personal Injury, and more. Salaries for this position range from $190,000 to $250,000 range, depending upon experience level, with significant bonus opportunities. Compensation and classification are based on the extent of directly relevant legal experience. While candidates with over eight years of practice may apply, those without substantial relevant experience in the listed practice areas may be classified at a lower attorney level, with compensation commensurate to that level. Conversely, candidates with exceptional relevant experience may be considered for a higher classification within our attorney structure

Here’s what our ideal candidate will handle:
Managing all aspects of civil litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions to ensure favorable outcomes for clients.
Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
Provide guidance and lead the litigation team.
Draft correspondence and regularly communicate with clients, experts, and defense counsel.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Must reside in California and willing to travel for trial and appearances as needed.
Trial experience and preparation with a minimum of 3 civil matters to verdict, with at least 5 near verdict preferred.
Experience as a first chair attorney in 3+ civil jury trials is required.
Experience with at least 5 bench trials is preferred.
Mediation and arbitration experience a huge plus
Jury selection (voir dire)
Effective selection and retention of trial experts
Experience in drafting motions and conducting trials
Deposition preparation and execution skills
Knowledge of Superior court systems and proceedings and administrative procedures to try cases in State courts, preferable has knowledge of federal court systems and ability to try matters in federal court
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Previous experience should include managing up to 20 cases at once
Demonstrated experience in managing legal teams, with a focus on mentoring and developing junior staff.
Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active Bar membership in California
Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
