Job Details

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in estate administration, including but not limited to preparing and filing administration petitions, probate petitions, and all ancillary documents for New York State Surrogate’s Court filings. Experience in personal injury law and petition to lift restrictions and wrongful death compromise proceeding is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide comprehensive paralegal support to our Trusts and Estates department, including drafting documents, e-filing, and court filings.
2. Manage all aspects of estate administration, including probate proceedings, estate tax returns, and distribution of assets.
3. Prepare and file probate petitions and other court documents, ensuring they comply with all legal requirements.
4. Assist in the planning and execution of estate plans, including drafting of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives.
5. Handle trust administration duties, including preparation of trust agreements and deeds, and maintaining accurate records of trust assets.
6. Facilitate communication with clients, court personnel, and other parties, providing timely updates and responses to inquiries.
7. Maintain and organize client files, ensuring all documents are properly filed and easily accessible.
8. Conduct legal research and analysis as needed to support attorneys in the Trusts and Estates department.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal, with a strong emphasis on trusts and estates.
2. Paralegal certification or equivalent educational background.
