We are seeking a full time Trusts & Estates Paralegal to join our legal team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a wide range of estate and trust matters, providing critical support to our attorneys and clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate planning, trust administration, and probate, and will be comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
As a Trusts & Estates Paralegal, your core responsibilities will include:
1. Assisting attorneys in all stages of estate planning and trust administration, including drafting and reviewing legal documents, conducting legal research, and preparing estate tax returns.
2. Managing the probate process, including filing petitions, inventories, and accountings, and communicating with court personnel, clients, and other parties.
3. Coordinating with clients to gather necessary information and documents, and providing regular updates on case progress.
4. Maintaining client files and case management systems, ensuring all information is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with legal standards and procedures.
5. Working closely with attorneys to develop and implement estate planning strategies tailored to clients' needs and goals.
6. Providing general administrative support to the legal team, including scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, and handling client inquiries.
Qualifications:
To be considered for the Trusts & Estates Paralegal position, you must have the following:
1. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on trusts and estates.
2. A bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, law, or a related field. A paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of estate and trust law, probate procedures, and tax implications.
4. Proficiency in legal research and document drafting, with a keen attention to detail.
5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
6. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
8. A high degree of discretion and confidentiality, with the ability to handle sensitive information with integrity.
9. A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
