Job Details

As a hands-on technical leader in Cloud Operations with proven expertise in defining and delivering private cloud and virtualization solutions, you will report to the VP, Technical Operations in Managed Services. Your core responsibilities include overseeing departmental and technology strategy, product definition, cloud architecture, engineering, and cloud support services for a 24x7 managed services environment.

You will collaborate with other highly skilled technical staff responsible for engineering the cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, backup, disaster recovery, virtualization (shared and dedicated), and OS/application layers across the company's overall product stack. Your hands-on leadership in this technical role will require daily interaction with cloud computing platforms and their related systems, sales and product teams, and other technical teams. As the senior leader for Cloud Operations, you will provide tier 5 support and engineering for our customers, sales, and other departments within the organization. This position requires work activities to be flexible during and after business hours in a 24x7 environment. On-Call duties are the team and its leadership's responsibility, especially during maintenance, transformations, and outages.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical design, architecture, engineering, and support of the company's cloud, virtualization, storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
Oversee Cloud Solutions budget, procurement, vendor identification, and pricing negotiations for related hardware, software, and services
Combine customer vision and priorities while incorporating emerging technologies to develop and execute the strategic roadmap for cloud products (IaaS, PaaS, DRaaS, BUaaS, Storage, etc.) and achieve revenue goals
Influence key stakeholders, partner with sales organization and customers in cloud design and planning decisions, including product and feature development, targeted at managed services customers
Ensures cloud computing platforms are aligned and maintained to a modern standard, perform proof of concepts (POCs), and oversee the coordination of production launch(es) of new platforms, products, services, customer success, as well as cloud consolidation and decommission
Translate internal and external business challenges into recommended best practices to improve products, processes, or services while using industry trends to inform decision-making
Ensure the cloud solutions team provides an effective escalation path for internal and external customers mirroring acceptable levels of availability, responsiveness, SLA adherence, and on-call responsibilities
Ensure the proper technical competency of the staff by developing technical training and certification roadmaps for each leader and member of the team
Responsible for capacity planning, reporting, related tasks, and projects to ensure appropriately sized platforms for customer growth, platform resiliency, and uptime
Maintain effective platform uptime and performance characteristics and staff member accountability to uptime standards through proper monitoring and measurement to ensure customer satisfaction
Function as the cloud solutions project leader to prioritize and manage project deadlines, navigate simultaneous projects and other cross-functional team demands, and ensure timely and effective execution and delivery of projects and related deliverables
Manage Cloud Solutions service requests, incidents, and problems via the ticketing system to ensure acceptable resolution and closure, an appropriate sense of urgency, SLA compliance, and overall customer satisfaction
Maintain support and maintenance contracts for cloud computing, servers, storage, software, licensing, and related technologies to ensure timely renewals of support, maintenance contracts, and software licenses
Develop and improve existing processes, procedures, and technologies that impact the organization's business operations and efficiencies
Ensure an effective on-call rotation "around the clock" coverage of all cloud infrastructure and systems
Perform effective performance management of the cloud engineering staff to include periodic performance evaluations, feedback, and goals
Lead technical efforts during critical events (CEs, customer incidents, or system outages) until the problem is resolved, including drafting RFOs, RCAs, and post-mortem and preventative activities
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science preferred. Equivalent work experience can be considered in place of a college education
10+ years of experience designing, building, supporting, and resolving complex issues of an enterprise-class cloud infrastructure in a mission-critical environment serving multiple tenants
Minimum 7 years of professional experience as a People Leader
5 years in an enterprise-class VMware environment and enterprise-class experience with block, file, and object-based storage arrays
Certifications within the engineering discipline and IT industry (ITIL, AWS Pro, VCAP, GCP, and Azure certifications) are highly desired
A deep understanding of cloud security concepts, including Firewalls, VPCs, Encryption, Authentication, and Authorization (SSO, Active Directory/LDAP, etc.), is a must
Additional experience with other major cloud providers, including AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure highly desired
Experience with Cloud Automation, Platform Management, and Cost management tools is highly desired
Enterprise productization experience, including developing product guides, asset management, data protection, capacity management, performance management, and lifecycle management
Strong ability to manage competing, complex, and cross-functional projects and resource demands
