We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Water Resource Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a remote, permanent position that offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in water resource management and engineering, with a particular emphasis on hydrology, hydraulic infrastructure, and flood mitigation. This role requires a deep understanding of surface water conveyance systems, bridge hydraulics, roadway and transit drainage system layout and design, green infrastructure, and permitting. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with cities, counties, and watershed districts to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex water resource challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and modeling using various applications (e.g., SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Hydro CAD, InfoDrainage)
  • Develop and design surface water conveyance systems, bank stabilization projects, and green infrastructure
  • Perform risk assessments related to bridge hydraulics
  • Design roadway and transit drainage system layouts
  • Assist with permitting processes and compliance
  • Collaborate with cities, counties, and watershed districts to develop effective water resource management strategies
  • Develop and implement stormwater and flood mitigation plans
  • Utilize GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS) and engineering design software (e.g., Microstation/Geopak/OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD) in project development and execution

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Biosystems Engineering with a focus on hydrology or water resources
  • PE certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in water resource engineering
  • Proficiency in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling applications (e.g., SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Hydro CAD, InfoDrainage)
  • Experience with GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS) and engineering design software (e.g., Microstation/Geopak/OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD)
  • Proven experience working with cities, counties, and watershed districts
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic infrastructure, stormwater management, surface water conveyance systems, and flood mitigation
  • Demonstrated experience with green infrastructure design and permitting processes
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
