We are seeking a seasoned Permanent Workers Comp Defense Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a prestigious law firm that is passionate about providing top-notch legal services to a diverse clientele. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing employers and carriers before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board in all phases of litigation, practicing law in compliance with ethical standards as established by state law. The position requires a deep understanding of workers' compensation defense and a passion for providing exceptional legal representation. This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
Responsibilities:
1. Represent employers and carriers before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board in all phases of litigation.
2. Provide comprehensive legal advice and guidance on all aspects of workers' compensation defense.
3. Prepare and draft legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, opinions, and other legal submissions.
4. Develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
5. Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients in disputes where it is deemed appropriate.
6. Conduct extensive legal research and analysis of laws, regulations, and legal articles related to workers' compensation defense.
7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in workers' compensation laws and regulations.
8. Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel.
9. Manage and prioritize multiple cases simultaneously.
10. Ensure all case-related information is accurately recorded and updated in the firm's case management system.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
2. Active member in good standing with the State Bar.
3. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in workers' compensation defense.
4. Demonstrated experience in representing clients before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.
5. Proficient in legal research and writing.
6. Exceptional negotiation skills and ability to resolve complex disputes.
7. Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
8. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases.
9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
10. Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
12. High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
13. Proficiency in using legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
