Job Details

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing and enforcing adherence of safety policies and procedures for compliance with laws and regulations governing the health and safety of employees. Reports to the Director of Lab and Technology Services.

Responsibilities
  • Develops, updates, and audits Company safety policies and procedures
  • Creates and manages Job Hazard Analysis for all new processes
  • Complete annual reporting (TRI, Tier II, monthly air emissions, storm water, OSHA log)
  • Conducts and understands ISO audits. Creates NCR/CARs.
  • Coordinates waste disposal
  • Maintains safety inspections (eyewash, safety shower, fire extinguishers, daily forklift)
  • Creates and updates SOPs
  • Ensures continued compliance with Company and OSHA policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Identify potential safety issues and recommend corrective actions as appropriate with follow up verification
  • Conduct daily and monthly safety meetings
  • Serve on safety committee to discuss safety needs, updates, and training
  • Develop effective training programs for manager and employees
  • Participate in Company internal and external audits and inspections
  • Administer safety training for new hires and contractors
  • Ensure safety records are maintained in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements
  • Perform frequent safety compliance inspections of contractor work locations
  • Verify OSHA compliance for Company and contractor equipment. Maintain records of inspection
  • Ensure incidents are investigated, reports are completed, and corrective actions are tracked
  • Track and control inventory of safety supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate, coach, and assist the staff to ensure that all safety expectations are understood and met. Create disciplinary actions forms, when needed.
  • Promote a safe work environment by leading by example

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required
  • Higher education in safety/engineering preferred
  • Five years of EHS experience
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations, laws and guidelines (OSHA, EPA, NFPA)
  • Ability to effectively train and motivate employees to exercise good health & safety practices in the workplace
  • Ability to create reports and develop relevant safety policies and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel & Power Point
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Experience required in: OSHA General Industry and Construction Standards including
but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Line Break, Confined Space, Fall Protection,
Respiratory Protection, PPE, JSA, and Risk Assessments
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • CPR and First Aid certifications preferred
  • Demonstrate kindness and respect to others while performing duties
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude

Work Requirements
  • Monday through Friday
  • Possible shift changes and Saturdays, as needed
  • Work is both indoors and outdoors
  • Outside work is subject to weather elements
  • Ability to lift no more than fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and underneath rail cars
