This pivotal role within the AmLaw 200 firm entails overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring the accurate and timely processing, recording, and reporting of financial transactions. The Accounting Manager will provide direct supervision to multiple accounting teams and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to uphold financial integrity and compliance with established procedures.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Accounting Manager to join our finance team. This is a permanent role that offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage a diverse team of accounting professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our accounting department, ensuring that all financial reporting is accurate and timely. This role is integral to our financial stability and requires a candidate with a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision, mentoring, and coaching to Cash Receivable Accountants, Accounts Payable Clerks, Client Trust Accountants, and Staff Accountant.
  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of the General Ledger.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Accounting to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
  • Ensure adherence to the Firm's policies and procedures by New Orleans and regional office accounting staff.
  • Prepare and manage the capital expenditure budget, ensuring all expenditures are within budget and properly accounted for.
  • Prepare schedules of partner asset transactions, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Provide regular financial reporting for the executive directors and partners, ensuring they have accurate and up-to-date financial information to support decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. A Master's degree or CPA is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the finance industry.
  • Previous experience in a law firm or similar professional services environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including the preparation of financial reports and budgets.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to mentor and develop staff.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficient in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
